In 2019, we’ve seen an increase in people looking for “affordable engagement rings.” Now, before we get into the topic, it’s important to define what “affordable” actually means. What I mean by that is, “affordable” is incredibly relative in jewelry.
Do you want a cheap engagement ring, and you don’t care about the quality?
Do you want a high quality engagement ring, and want something simple, understated, and happens to be on the lower end of the price spectrum?
Do you want the biggest, most beautiful diamond ring you get, so long as it fits in your personal budget?
See what I mean? There are a lot of ways to look at the idea of an “affordable engagement ring,” and it’s very dependent on you, your personal preferences, and your personal budget.
So may I suggest, before we move on, that you take a moment to clarify: What do you mean by “affordable”? And on that note, here are a few good tips on getting the affordable engagement rings that's right for you.
By far, most people still get engaged with a diamond engagement ring. For some people, there is a perception that diamond engagement rings are “not affordable” or “too expensive.” But as we said above, the whole idea is relative.
For example, we have diamond engagement rings starting as low as $600 (which is on the low end of price for a diamond engagement ring that’s still good quality).
But the average amount spent on engagement rings in the U.S. is actually closer to $6,000 (typically for ring with a center diamond around 1 carat).
The important thing to remember is that you don’t have to pay cash upfront, all at once.
Here at Garcia & Co. Jewelers, many of our engagement ring clients use our special financing options to get the ring they really want, and make it affordable with monthly payments that work for their budget.
If you’re shopping for an affordable engagement ring and thinking, “Gosh, I don’t have that kind of money right now,” remember that if you qualify for financing, you can make the purchase affordable for your monthly budget, over time.
Some engagement ring shoppers are most concerned with getting the ring style they want, and aren’t so concerned with the center diamond.
If that’s you, you may consider choosing a diamond alternative for your center stone.

And choosing a high quality ring, with a diamond alternative center stone, is a great way to get an affordable engagement ring that you absolutely love.
Some of the most common ways to do this are by choosing a lab created diamond, a diamond alternative (like moissanite or cubic zirconia), or a non-diamond stone like sapphire or even topaz.
Finally, we’ve seen an increased interest in classic, simple gold bands. You may even decide to forgo the diamond altogether and instead just choose a simple band.
The gold ring has been a symbol of never-ending commitment for thousands of years. There’s nothing wrong with going back to basics and celebrating your love and commitment with a beautiful, simple gold band.
This is yet another great way to get an affordable engagement ring.
I hope this short guide was helpful and gave you some new ways to think about finding the right affordable engagement ring for you.
